Numbers 6: 22-27
22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
27 So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.25 the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
This is Aaron's blessing to the Israelites. It tells me one thing - God wants us to be blessed! In this blessing from God we are blessed three times. Notice the name of the LORD appears three times.
1) The LORD bless you and keep you.
2) The LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
3) The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
This blessing in triplicate emphasizes the fullness of God's blessing on our lives. When something is repeated three times in Scripture it represents intensity. For example, when Scripture emphasizes the holiness of God we see: Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD God. Fullness. God wants us to be fully blessed by his love and presence. God's blessings are meant to be received by us, believed by us and lived out in our daily lives. So, let me break down this blessing so we can receive it the way God intended.
The Lord Bless you - I am blessed by God. Repeat these blessings often.
The Lord Keep you - I am protected by God.
The Lord make his face shine upon you - I live in the presence of God.
The Lord be gracious to you - I live in God's grace.
The Lord turn His face toward you - I believe God is satisfied with my life. What a blessing to know that God is smiling toward you.
The Lord give you His peace - I receive the Shalom of God. He desires wholeness in my life.
No matter what you're circumstances are, you can receive and believe that God's blessing is on your life. You are blessed, blessed, blessed!
