Over the years there have been scores of people who began reading the Bible to disprove it. Some being atheist, some being agnostic, but the common denominator was proving the Bible to be just a human document. Some of the more recent examples of this are Lee Strobel, an atheist, who started reading the Bible and became a Christian; and a Pastor. His books are now helping people defend the faith. The same thing happened to Josh McDowell. He started reading the Bible to disprove the resurrection. He, too, became a Christian. His book "Evidence, That Demands a Verdict" has been read by millions.
You probably have not heard of Dr. Viggo and Joan Olsen. Both were agnostic. Both were medical doctors. They both agreed to study the Bible in an honest and objective way to sincerely search for the truth. Their agnostic bias led them to read the Bible and prove that it was not the Word of God. Dr. Viggo recalls, "I said to Joan that first we will review all the agnostic arguments we heard during university and medical college years. Second, we will pick out and list the scientific mistakes in the Bible. These mistakes will prove it to be the word of men, not the Word of some infallible Creator."
The Olsen's began their quest and decided after a few weeks that there was a God. But they were still convinced that He could not be known and had not revealed Himself to mankind. The also discovered that the Bible was historically accurate. They were quite impressed with the remarkable unity in the Scriptures. They confessed that the science in the Bible was accurate. By their own admission they found it quite difficult to find any scientific mistakes in the Bible.
After months of serious questioning, Dr. and Mrs. Olsen concluded that the Bible is indeed God's message to mankind. Based on their belief, they both accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Later, they journeyed to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), where they have served as missionaries since 1962.

Forever O Lord is your Word established in heaven.
