It’s hard to believe that the 4G series is over this weekend. Eight weeks goes by faster than it used to, doesn’t it? Even though the series is concluding, I trust our growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord doesn’t conclude. There is never a point in our spiritual formation where we can rest. We grow from one grace to another. We grow from glory to glory as God transforms us more into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
I read a story about and a 20 year employee that hoped to get a promotion with his company. Instead, the manager gave the promotion to an employee that had only been with the company five years. Puzzled and disillusioned, the 20 year veteran confronted his manager, “Why did you choose a guy with only five years of experience when I have twenty years of experience?” The manager answered, “Because you don’t have twenty years of experience. You have one year of experience twenty times. You’re still doing the same things in the same way as when we first hired you. You haven’t grown on the job.”
The same is true for our spiritual growth. We can’t rest on one year of growth. We need to continue in our growth.
Our theme verse for the 4G series, “But grow (keep on growing) in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).
Let’s keep confessing Jesus as Lord. Let’s keep trusting God for everything. Let’s keep bearing fruit, obeying God with love and pray in Jesus’ name. Let’s keep honoring the Word of God and continue to use our spiritual gifts to serve others. All of these bring glory to God and that is the ultimate purpose for living.
Let’s keep growing in His grace!
