Happy Mother's Day

Here is a picture of me and my mom in 1975. I picked this picture because I thought my mom looked overjoyed to be my mom. And don't I look like every mom's dream? Or maybe Eddie Haskell? I think I was sitting on the couch with mom asking her for just another $5 and then I would quit bugging her.
Oh the joy of being a mom and having to put up with a kid like me.
My mom raised me as a single parent and did a great job. Especially considering what she had to deal with. I wasn't the "model" child as you can tell by this photo. I was the kid that got sent to the principals office, regularly. I was the kid that stayed out too late, and hung around the wrong people and caused my mom to pray more than she thought possible. There's an old proverb that states, "An ounce of mother is worth a pound of priest". I believe it. I experienced it. And I am thankful for it. One thing mom did right, she taught us to love the Lord and the Church and the Word of God. We knew the power and value of prayer, because she prayed for us so much. So like Solomon, "I am arising and calling her blessed, I praise God for her" (Prov. 31:28).
Thank God for godly moms!!
