Things I'm not writing in my Valentines Day card

If you have trouble writing romantic words in a Valentines card, don’t use the Song of Solomon (Songs) as a template. You probably won’t score any points.
Don’t get me wrong. The Song of Solomon is a beautiful picture of the intimacy that is enjoyed in a marriage relationship. The Song depicts in poetic imagery the courtship, the early days of marriage and the maturing of this royal couple through the good and bad days of life. The Song of Solomon provides spiritual music for a lifetime of marital harmony.
However, if I expressed praise for my wife like Solomon was expressing praise for His beloved Shulamite bride, I would be sleeping on the couch…forever!
So these are things I will not write in my Valentine Card to my wife from the Song of Songs:
2:9 – I liken you my darling, to a mare harnessed to one of the chariots of Pharaoh.
4:1 – Your hair is like a flock of goats.
4:2 – Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn.
7:2 – Your navel is a rounded goblet that never lacks blended wine. Your waist is a mound of wheat encircled by lilies.
7:4 a – Your neck is like an ivory tower.
7:4 b - Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon looking toward Damascus.

I tried to update this description into a more modern, western way of thinking. It didn’t work that well for me either.
“I liken you my darling to a well tuned race car”. (could be code for you seem revved up)
“Your hair is much prettier than a goat’s hair”. (this still doesn't sound right)
“Your teeth are well brushed and flossed”. (and crowned)
“Your navel" (well I’m just not going there)
“Your neck needs massaging sometimes and I’m glad to do it.” (why is your neck stiff?)
“Your nose is so cute.” (it's much, much smaller than a tower)

See? Everytime I write something it just doesn't sound right!

I did find one verse that I can write in my Valentines Day card to my wife that is true of her and the way I feel about her:

How beautiful you are , Oh how beautiful” ( 1:15).

For my beautiful wife,
Tim
